EDINBORO, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's swimming team dropped its final dual meet of the season to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opponent Edinboro, 117-88, on Friday afternoon at McComb Fieldhouse.

One of the bright spots for the Raiders (3-5) was graduate Laurel Gingrich, who picked up two individual victories on the day. Gingrich first took to the pool in the 50-yard freestyle, swimming 24.45 seconds to narrowly beat Edinboro's (3-2) Katelyn Reott by three hundredths of a second.

Gingrich also claimed victory in the 100-yard butterfly, having another close race with a Fighting Scot swimmer. Gingrich used a final split of 31.56 seconds to pull away from Alexis Schrecongost, winning with a time of 1:00.90 compared to Schrecongost's time of 1:01.08.

Freshman Olivia Carver picked up a win in the first individual event of the afternoon, the 1,000-yard freestyle. Carver used consistent splits to notch a time of 11:08.99, which dipped under the PSAC qualifying standard (11:09.56). Carver also picked up a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 5:30.36.

Sophomore Michelle Kubiak had a strong outing for the Raiders, finishing right behind Carver for third in the 500 free, swimming 5:33.55. Kubiak also took second in the 200-yard freestyle, swimming 2:02.55.

Junior Hannah Hudson, a newly-added transfer from Lees-McRae, picked up a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, swimming 1:01.41. In her first individual event and race with the Raiders, Hudson punched her ticket to the PSAC Championships by virtue of swimming under the conference standard (1:02.55).

Hudson, senior Lauren Croll, freshman Elyse Arnold, and Gingrich opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, swimming 1:53.25, while Carver, Senior Gracie Wetzel, Kubiak, and Hudson concluded the day with second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a 1:45.32 time.

Today's dual meet was the final dual meet of the season for the Raiders, and also marked the final collegiate dual meet for Croll, Gingrich, Emma Grove, senior Emily Newton, and Wetzel.

The Raiders will be back in action when they travel to Lewisburg for the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday, Feb 1.
