SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University football team was kept off the scoreboard by visiting Shepherd on Saturday, as the Raiders dropped the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opener to the Rams by a 38-0 score on a dreary day at Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium.

Shippensburg (1-3, 0-1 PSAC East) managed just 177 yards of offense and could not prevent big plays from Shepherd (3-1, 1-0), as the Rams scored touchdowns on a 56-yard run, a 57-yard pass and a 61-yard punt return. The Raiders totaled 12 first downs compared to just nine for the visitors but finished with just 21 rushing yards and had just two plays of 20 or more yards.

Raider quarterbacks
Sam Stoner and
Vincent Micucci combined to complete 20-of-24 passes for 156 yards. Stoner was 10-of-11 for 83 yards, while Micucci was 10-of-13 for 73 yards and an interception.

Karim Brice had a solid day with five catches for 46 yards. Ten different Raiders caught at least one pass.

Shepherd recorded 15.0 tackles-for-loss (TFLs), including six sacks. JT Kouame-Yao had 13 tackles, including 4.5 TFLs, of which one was a sack. Thirteen different Rams contributed to a TFL in the game. Malakai Brown scored twice on the ground, while quarterback Lek Powell threw for 184 yards and two touchdowns.

The loss marked the first time that Shippensburg has been shutout since the 2013 season opener, when the Rams won 33-0 in Shepherdstown. Saturday's setback was the first time that Shippensburg has been shutout at home since Oct. 25, 2008 (21-0 to No. 4 Bloomsburg).
