The Shippensburg University women's tennis team opened its 2024-25 season Wednesday afternoon at California (Pa.), dropping a 6-1 decision to the host Vulcans at Roadman Park.

Shippensburg (0-1) picked up a victory at No. 6 singles, as sophomore
Ava Kalist won her collegiate debut 6-4, 6-3 over Anika Hedrich.

Freshman
Jade Miller also made her collegiate debut Wednesday and battled at No. 4 singles, winning five total games. Junior
Corinne Markovich won three games at No. 1 singles.

California (1-0) swept doubles with perfect 6-0 scores. The tandem of Teddi Isherwood and Leandra Guldimann won the top doubles flight and the top two singles flights.
