RECAP: Men’s Soccer suffers road setback at Jefferson, 3-0

Rough road tilt featured 32 fouls and six yellow cards

The Shippensburg University men's soccer team suffered its first setback of the season with a 3-0 road defeat at the hands of nonconference foe Jefferson Wednesday at Ravenhill Field.

The Raiders (1-1) were outshot by the Rams (2-0-1) 18-to-7 overall, including a 13-to-4 margin in shots on goal, during a rough and tumble matchup that featured 32 fouls and six yellow cards.

Jefferson opened the scoring with a set piece goal in the 34th minute, with TJ Hibsman redirecting a Sean Stackhouse delivery past the SU keeper at the near post.

The Rams added to their lead just before the half. A brilliant first touch by Jefferson forward Matty Harmon created space in the box, allowing him to smash his effort into the back of the net.

Jefferson finished with seven shots on goal in the first 45 minutes, to just one for Shippensburg.

Jefferson's Diego Guzman was credited with the only goal of the second half.

SU senior Ashton Davies led the Raiders with two shots on target in the loss. Sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Krumenacker finished with 10 saves.

The Raiders continue their season-opening road swing Sept. 18 with a tough matchup against defending Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division champs Millersville. First kick from Pucillo Field is set for 7 p.m.
