SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University men's basketball alumnus Dom Sleva '21/'23M has signed a professional contract Rasta Vechta, a team that plays in the second-tier circuit (Pro A) of professional basketball in Germany.

The news was distributed Friday morning by his agency and by Eurobasket. Sleva completed his first practice with Rasta Vechta yesterday.

"I'm very excited to be here," Sleva said. "Vechta is a great place so far, with a lot of great people. I'm very motivated to showcase my skills and help my team as much as possible."

This will be Sleva's first season in the Pro A League after finishing the 2023-24 season averaging 23.3 points and 15.7 rebounds per game in six contests for the Kordall Steelers in the Luxembourg Basketball League (LBBL).

The 2024-25 campaign will be his second season in professional basketball.

"I'm grateful for this opportunity, and I'm ready to get after it," Sleva said.

Ironically, Sleva's first game of the season will be Sept. 22 against Bremerhaven – the club to which fellow Raider alumni Jake Biss '21 and Carlos Carter '23 signed earlier this month.

About Vechta and "Pro A"

Vechta is the largest city in Lower Saxony in northwestern Germany and is known for its annual Stoppelmarkt fair that draws upwards of 700,000 visitors. Bremen is about 45 miles to the northeast.

The team is named Rasta in a tribute to reggae music, as legend has it that Bob Marley's Rastaman Vibration was playing at the time of the club's formation.

The "Pro A" league is similar to most European leagues in that it has promotion and relegation. The Top 2 teams at the end of the league state are promoted to the top-flight German league – Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), while the two lowest teams in the standings are relegated to "Pro B."
