SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University's
Drew Dailey and
Josh Herbster have been selected to compete at the 2024 NCAA Division II Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The 2024 championships take place next week at Zola Witten Track at Francis G. Welsh Stadium on the campus of Emporia State University in Kansas.
Dailey is the No. 6 seed in the 800 meters; he qualified by virtue of his time of 1:48.96 at this year's Bison Outdoor Classic in mid-April.
It is his second career NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships qualification. Dailey finished 17th in the prelims in 2022 (1:51.03). In March of this year, he earned All-America Second Team honors in the 800 with a 10th-place finish (1:51.75) at the indoor national championships.
Herbster is the No. 6 seed in the hammer throw; he qualified for nationals by breaking the all-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) record on multiple occasions this season – with his best mark being his last of the 2024 league championships, as it traveled 219 feet, 7 inches (66.93 meters).
It is his second career NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships qualification. Herbster earned All-America First Team honors last season with a seventh-place throw of 204 feet, 2 inches (62.23 meters).
According to the current NCAA Championships meet schedule, Herbster will compete in the men's hammer throw finals at 1:30 p.m. EST Thursday (12:30 p.m. local), while Dailey will compete in the men's 800-meter prelims at 7 p.m. EST Friday (6 p.m. local). The men's 800-meter finals take place at 4:45 p.m. Saturday (3:45 p.m. local).
