Â
Game 1: Shippensburg 6, Bloomsburg 1
Â
Entering Friday, Bloomsburg pitching ace Callie Sowers had been masterful, allowing just four earned runs and 33 total hits over the course of 65 innings this season.
Â
The Raiders were able to record six earned runs and 11 hits off Sowers on Friday, including six extra-base hits. Sowers had only allowed seven extra-base hits all season prior to facing SU.
Â
In the third, senior
Morgan Lindsay opened the scoring with a monstrous home run to left field.
Â
In the fifth, senior
Taylor Myers led off with a triple and was promptly singled home by sophomore
Caitlyn Martell.
Â
In the seventh, senior
Alyssa Nehlen led off with a single and Myers then doubled. With one out, Lindsay was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Freshman
Sarah Sabocsik came up and delivered an RBI-single to make it 3-0.
Â
Sophomore
Emilee Sullivan promptly clinched it for the Raiders with a bases-clearing double to left-center field that made it 6-0 in favor of Shippensburg.
Â
Junior
Alicia Ball outdueled Sowers to improve to 7-1. Ball had a no-hitter going with two outs in the fifth inning until the Huskies loaded the bases with a pair of singles and a walk. Ball escaped the jam with a fielder's choice, and her only blemish was a seventh-inning solo home run. She scattered four hits and three walks and struck out nine.
Â
Myers finished a home run shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 at the plate. Junior
Katelyn Minney was 2-for-3 with a sun-aided double. Senior
Maelynn Leber  also doubled in the contest.
Game 2: Bloomsburg 9, Shippensburg 1 (5 innings)
Â
Bloomsburg struck for three runs in the first and four in the second to take a 7-0 lead that set the tone for the nightcap. SU's only run came on an RBI-single in the third inning by Lindsay.
Â
The Raiders used sophomore
Kaira Zamadics, freshman
Maddy Borowski and freshman
Madalyn Dyer in the circle. Dyer struck out four in 2.1 innings.
Â
Kelly Eberly got the win for the Huskies, allowing a run on four hits over five innings. Eberly walked two and struck out one.
