Robert Lissner cleared a new personal-best height in the pole vault Saturday to highlight the efforts of the Shippensburg University men's indoor track & field team at the Plex Shootout hosted by Alvernia.
 
Lissner's second-place clearance of 15 feet, 3 inches improved his PR by two inches. It moves him out of a four-way tie for sixth place on SU's Top 10 list for the event into a tie for fifth with Travis Hammaker. The performance is the second-best clearance by a Raider indoor pole vaulter in the last 15 years.
 
It was one of five SU performances on the day that satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying standards. Two came in the shot put, with Donovan Kitchen placing second on a top throw of 48 feet, 8 ¾ inches, and Colin Daub one spot behind on a throw of 48 feet, 1 ¼ inches. Kitchen was less than a foot off his collegiate best, while Daub achieved a new collegiate PR with his throw.
 
Both Kitchen and Daub also achieved new season and collegiate bests in the weight throw. Kitchen landed a fifth-place throw of 47 feet, 1 inch that moved him into the league's Top 15 performances in the event.
 
Darien Ressler continued a steady pace in the jumps. On Saturday, he won the triple jump with a top mark of 44 feet, 8 ¼ inches that was achieved on his sixth and final attempt, and he finished second in the long jump with a top mark of 21 feet, 9 ½ inches. Ressler's long jump is a new indoor PR.
 
Aiden Gonder became the fifth Raider with a PSAC qualifier in the 5K, finishing second in 15:35.72. Herb Quarterman and Teagan Weaver ran 4-5 in the finals of the 60 meters with identical times of 7.16 seconds. For Quarterman, the time improved his season best.
 
Shippensburg splits its squad again next weekend, with one contingent traveling Friday night to Susquehanna for the River Hawk Friday Night Showdown, and a second faction heading south to Liberty for the two-day Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational.
