CARLISLE, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's swimming team advanced three into individual finals on the third day of the 2024 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships being held at the Keystone Aquatic Center.
Senior
Michael Salvatori had the highest place finish of the day for the Raiders, competing in the consolation 'B' final of the 200-yard butterfly, taking 14th overall with a time of 1:55.09. Salvatori swam 1:54.13 in the morning to qualify for finals, which set a new personal record. It beat his previous PR set in December at Gettysburg. Salvatori also entered the all-time Top 10 in school history with the performance, moving into ninth.
Junior
Zaidian Van Orden shaved almost two seconds off of his previous 200 fly personal best in the morning, swimming a 1:57.50 to also qualify for the 'B' final. Van Orden's previous best came at the 2023 PSAC Championships.
Junior
David Johnson and freshman
Luke Roettger rounded out the Raider representation in the event, swimming times of 1:58.41 and 2:00.50 respectively. For Roettger, it is a personal best by almost three seconds, with his previous time being a 2:03.29 set back at the 2023 F&M Invitational in November.
Graduate
JC Greenwood was the lone Raider in the 500-yard freestyle, qualifying for the 'B' final in 15th with a time of 4:44.39. Greenwood stayed consistent from prelims to finals, swimming a 4:44.46 to finish 16th overall.
For Van Orden and Greenwood, it was their first-ever "evening" finals qualification.

Connor Ludwig all swam personal bests, each dropping time in the prelim session.

Nathan VanNatter swam the 100-yard breaststroke, placing 17th and 18th with times of 58.60 and 58.86 seconds respectively. Mercer swam a tight double by also competing in the 100 breast, swimming a 1:03.27.

Robbie Ferlick opened the evening session with a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, touching the wall in 1:35.75.
After three days of competition, the team maintained sixth place in the standings with 136 points.
The final day of competition is set to begin with prelims at 10 a.m. Saturday, with finals starting at 5 p.m.
