The Shippensburg University wrestling team dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) dual meet to the Millersville Marauders Monday at Pucillo Gymnasium, 45-6.
Shippensburg (1-15, 0-6 PSAC) tallied a pin from sophomore
Kyler Everly for its lone victory.
Everly stuck his 157-pound opponent Eli Tuckey in the first period despite surrendering the initial takedown, reversing out of bottom and locking in a cradle to score a quick turn and pin.
Elsewhere, freshman
Eli Bounds nearly picked up what would have been his second straight PSAC dual meet win to begin his collegiate career in his match at 141 pounds.
Bounds scored a pair of first period takedowns to take a 6-1 lead on Millersville's Aidan Micheli after the first three minutes. A five-point move by Micheli closed the gap significantly late in the match, and Micheli scored the go-ahead takedown with 20 seconds remaining to win a 10-9 decision.
The host Marauders (12-8, 3-4) also got bonus point wins from a trio of nationally ranked wrestlers: No. 4-ranked 133-pounder Devin Flannery, No. 3 ranked 165-pounder Brandon Connor and the No. 9 ranked wrestler at 184 pounds Anthony Giampietro.
Bryce Beatty (125), Craig Cook (149), Jonathan Parilla (174), Bruce Vaughn (197) and Avery Kuhns (285) were also victorious for Millersville.
Up next, the Raiders close out their dual meet scheduled with a road clash against No. 11 ranked Pitt-Johnstown Friday at 7 p.m.
