SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's basketball team dropped a 100-73 decision to Gannon Saturday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover contest at Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (2-7, 1-3 PSAC) had four players finish in double figures. Junior
Donovan Hill posted his third consecutive double-double and fifth of the season with 17 points and 18 rebounds. Hill recorded a career-high five assists and blocked two shots; he was also 8-of-9 at the free-throw line.
Redshirt-sophomore
Markus Frank scored 15 points, while freshmen
Jaydon Smith and
David Dorsey each scored 12 points. Smith added four assists and three rebounds, while Dorsey had six rebounds and a block.
Gannon (8-2, 4-0) got 26 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals from freshman Pace Prosser. He was 5-of-9 from three-point range. Five Golden Knights were in double figures, including Justin Debuck (17 points). Tasman Goodrick had a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Lucas Sekasi had 12 points and nine rebounds.
The visitors attempted 28 more field goals than the hosts and shot 41.6 percent (37-of-89) from the field, including 9-of-33 (27 percent) from three-point range. Gannon was also 17-of-19 (89.5 percent) at the free-throw line. SU shot 41 percent (25-of-61) from the field but was 1-of-13 (7.7 percent) from three-point range.
Shippensburg now breaks for finals and returns to action in two weeks, hosting Clarion at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21.
