The Shippensburg University men's swimming team opened its weekend with strong relay performances and multiple individual scoring performances in the first session of the 2024 Gettysburg Invitational at Bullet Pool.
The meet opened with the 200-yard freestyle relay, and the Raiders picked up fourth and fifth place in the race. The quartet of sophomore

Kevin Noldy and sophomore Robert Ferlick took fourth by swimming 1:25.19.

David Johnson finished right behind in fifth place, touching the wall at 1:25.45.
Koeth returned to the pool one event later, pacing the Raiders in the 500-yard freestyle. Koeth showed consistent splits throughout his race and finished sixth with a time of 4:45.56. He lowered his previous season best by about ten seconds, and by virtue was under the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying standard (4:59.96).
Ferlick also competed in the 500 free, dipping under the qualifying standard by swimming a 4:58.70.
Einolf competed in the final heat of the 200-yard IM, swimming 1:59.02 and taking seventh place in the event. Einolf's splits helped him dip under the PSAC standard of 2:01.37.
The 50-yard freestyle provided four individual scoring performances for the Raiders. The top finish came from Noldy, who took sixth with a time of 21.36 seconds. VanNatter was 10th with a time of 21.76 seconds, Johnson was 12th with a time of 21.82 seconds, and Van Orden rounded out the scoring with a 16th-place finish in 22.04 seconds.
The first session concluded with the 400-yard medley relay, with the Raiders taking third and sixth place. Koeth, freshman
Kiran George, Einolf, and Ferlick represented the third place finish, swimming a 3:29.10, while Noldy, VanNatter, Johnson, and Ludwig comprised the sixth place team, swimming a time of 3:32.99.
Shippensburg will compete in two sessions on Saturday at Bullets pool, with the morning session starting at 10 a.m., and the evening session commencing at 5 p.m.
