The Shippensburg University women's basketball team finished its tough Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division weekend road trip with a loss to Indiana (Pa.) Sunday afternoon at the Kovalchik Complex, 77-41.
Shippensburg (1-4, 0-2 PSAC) struggled from the field, shooting 17-of-64 (27%) for the contest and 1-of-11 (9%) from three-point range.
IUP (5-0, 2-0) used a balanced scoring attack that resulted in four Crimson Hawk players reaching double figures, and netted a total of 27 points off 21 SU turnovers.
Madison Zavasky paced the hosts with a game-high 13 points and nine rebounds. Shamia Strayhorn finished with 12 points, while Marin Miller and Nyshae' Weaver each chipped in with 11.
For Shippensburg, sophomore
Bella Chimienti had several strong takes to the basket to post a team-best 10 points on 5-of-11 shooting (45%). Senior
Abbie Miller added six points, nine boards and four steals.
Next up, the Raiders will head to San Antonio, Texas next weekend to take part in the St. Mary's Thanksgiving Classic. They will tip-off against tournament hosts St. Mary's Friday at 7 p.m. (EST).
