INDIANA, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's swimming team dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at IUP on Tuesday night, 128-77, at Pidgeon Natatorium.
 
The Raiders (1-2) picked up three individual victories on the evening, with two coming from freshman Olivia Carver. Carver, continuing her strong start to her collegiate career, picked up wins in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly with times of 2:01.75 and 2:19.00 respectively. Both times were faster than the PSAC Championships qualifying standards (2:02.08 for the 200 free, 2:20.98 for the 200 fly).
 
The third victory came from graduate Laurel Gingrich, who paced the pool in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:33.84.
 
Junior Makennah Fickett notched a PSAC qualifier in the 200-yard backstroke, using a time of 2:15.74 to dip under the standard of 2:16.28.
 
The 200-yard medley relay team of Fickett, sophomore Charlee Shaw, Gingrich, and senior Gracie Wetzel opened the meet with a second-place finish with a time of 1:55.75.
 
The quartet of Gingrich, senior Lauren Croll, freshman Elyse Arnold, and Fickett closed the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, touching the wall in 1:43.17.
 
The Raiders will visit Frostburg State at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18.
