SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's swimming team dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup to Bloomsburg, 130-69, on Saturday afternoon at Heiges Field House.
 
The Raiders (1-1) won two events on the day, both coming from freshman Olivia Carver. Carver paced the pool in the 1,000-yard freestyle, first notching a PSAC cut with a time of 11:03.87. She returned to deliver a highly-energized finish in the 500-yard freestyle, using a strong final 200 yards to swim out of a three-second deficit and splitting 30.13 seconds on her final 50 yards to pass Bloomsburg's Maddie Osanitsch and win the race in 5:26.18. Both swimmers earned a PSAC cut in the race.
 
Graduate Laurel Gingrich and sophomore Charlee Shaw also picked up PSAC cuts on the afternoon, with Gingrich grabbing the 100-yard freestyle cut (54.73), and Shaw taking the 100-yard breaststroke cut (1:10.58). Both finished second in their respective races.
 
The quartet of sophomore Mackenzie Beerman, Shaw, senior Gracie Wetzel, and senior Lauren Croll took second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:53.48.
 
Gingrich, Croll, freshman Emma Gerlinski and Wetzel teamed up to take second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:41.48.
 
The Raiders will visit IUP at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
