The No. 1-ranked Shippensburg University field hockey team completed its regular season Wednesday night with a 1-0 overtime loss at IUP in a non-conference matchup at Miller Stadium.
Â
It was the second meeting in the last five days between Shippensburg (16-1) and IUP (6-9), as the two teams played a conference match last Saturday at Robb Sports Complex in which the Raiders posted a 4-0 victory.
Â
In Wednesday night's match, Shippensburg recorded 16 penalty corners and 12 shots on goal but could not find the back of the net, as Brooke Everly posted double-digit saves for the Crimson Hawks.
Â
The difference in the game proved to be an overtime game-winner for Jess Davidson, who took a penalty corner insert from Sydney Schmouder and fired a rocket into the lower left portion of the net for her eighth goal of the season.
Â
Redshirt-junior goalkeeper
Emma Albee made four saves for the Raiders.
Â
Shippensburg now turns its attention to hosting the 2024 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships. The next game for the Raiders will be at noon on Friday, Nov. 8; it will be a conference semifinal against an opponent to be determined.
Â
Additional information about the PSAC Championships will be available next week at shipraiders.com and psacsports.org. Of note, all tickets will be cashless, with the PSAC providing links to purchase next week.
