RECAP: Men’s Swimming completes undefeated weekend by racing past Fairmont State, 118-75

Raiders take both relays and six individual events

CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's swimming team completed its weekend with a win over Fairmont State on Saturday, 118-75, in a non-conference neutral-site matchup at Hamer Hall Natatorium.
 
Shippensburg (3-2) provided an excellent meet, winning both relays and all but three individual events. Freshman Alex Kissinger posted two individual victories on the day, taking the 200-yard IM and the 200-yard butterfly. Kissinger went 2:03.62 in the IM and 2:01.35 in the fly, the latter of which satisfied the PSAC standard (2:03.62).
 
The quartet of sophomore Mason Koeth, junior Nate Wauls, sophomore Robbie Ferlick, and senior Nathan VanNatter opened the meet with a strong performance in the 200-yard medley relay, posting a time of 1:37.37 to win the race.
 
Graduate JC Greenwood paced the pool in the 1,000-yard freestyle, using a blistering 27.35 last 50 split to finish the race at 10:50.75. Ferlick had a blistering time of his own, swimming a 21.97-second 50-yard freestyle to win the race along with satisfying the PSAC mark (22.53).
 
Senior Zaidian Van Orden took the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.60 seconds, narrowly beating freshman Josh Einolf, who touched the wall at 49.63 seconds.
 
Koeth returned to the water to outpace the Fighting Falcons in the 500-yard freestyle, repeating Greenwood's last 50 split with a 26.70 second split of his own, touching the wall at 4:55.01.
 
The team of Koeth, sophomore Connor Ludwig, VanNatter and Ferlick ended the meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay, all splitting under 22.5 seconds in producing a time of 1:27.63. The quartet of Kissinger, Van Orden, junior Kevin Noldy and Greenwood raced and out-touched Fairmont State's "A" relay, swimming 1:31.62 to the Falcons' 1:31.93.
 
The Raiders return home to face Clarion at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1 for Senior Night.
