SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's swimming team claimed a Senior Day victory over Edinboro on Friday afternoon, 107-86, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at Donald N. Miller Pool.
 
SU honored two seniors before the meet, Matthew Beard and Michael Salvatori. The Raiders achieved the fastest times in all but one individual event and opened with a relay victory, with Salvatori leading the way for the team.
 
Salvatori shined in his final meet at home, claiming individual wins in all three races, highlighted by breaking the pool record in the 400 IM. Phil Meyer of Penn State University held the record at 4:11.39 set back in 1991, standing for over 32 years before Salvatori broke it Friday with a time of 4:08.05.
 
The Raiders opened the meet with the 200-medley relay, with the quartet of freshman Mason Koeth, junior Nathan VanNatter, freshman Robbie Ferlick, and freshman Connor Ludwig taking first in a time of 1:36.29.
 
Junior David Johnson was the lone Raider in the 1,650 freestyle, winning with a time of 17:19.20.
 
Koeth and graduate JC Greenwood placed first and second in the 200 free, going 1:45.44 and 1:48.90 respectively. Koeth also picked up a victory in the 100 backstroke, swimming 53.73 seconds.
 
Ferlick took the victory in the 50 freestyle, touching the wall in 21.69 seconds. VanNatter picked up first in the 100 freestyle, swimming 48.23 seconds.
 
The duo of Salvatori and Greenwood paced the pool in the 500 freestyle, taking first and second with times of 4:53.88 and 5:04.55. Salvatori ended the individual races with a victory in the 100 breaststroke, swimming a time of 1:01.19.
 
The Raiders will compete next on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Navy Invitational.
