The Shippensburg University women's swimming team continued its start to the 2023-24 season with a tri-meet at West Chester on Friday where the Raiders competed against the host Golden Rams and Southern Connecticut State.
 
The Raiders took to the pool for 12 individual events and a pair of relays. It was the second meet of the week for the Raiders, who traveled to Kutztown on Wednesday night.
 
Freshman Jazz Barry led the Raiders in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing third with a time of 1:10.49 and achieving the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying time. Barry was also the team's pacesetter in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 1:04.35.
 
Sophomore Makennah Fickett delivered the fastest time for the Raiders in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:06.81; senior Marissa Bittner finished first among the Raiders in the 200-yard IM in 2:24.87, and fellow senior Alyssa Tomb paced the Raiders in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:16.88.
 
With the removal of diving, SU's team score was 105 points behind West Chester and 62 behind Southern Connecticut State.
 
The Raiders will travel to Bloomsburg for a dual meet next Saturday at 1 p.m.
