The Shippensburg University women's cross country team asserted itself well in its first 6K race of the season, placing second Friday night at the Division II/III Challenge hosted by Kutztown University on the North Campus Farm Course.
Sophomore
Livi Rieck paced the Raider scorers with a third-place performance, crossing the finish line in 24:24.3. Rieck ran 11th in last year's race at Kutztown.
Junior
Belle Weikert placed sixth, serving as SU's No. 2 scorer. Weikert ran 24:43.8. Redshirt-sophomore
Kelsey Hull and junior
Victoria Mattioli ran 11th and 12th, posting respective times of 25:11 and 25:18, while junior
Leah Moffitt rounded out the SU scorers with a 16th-place finish in 25:47.
Shippensburg is back in action next weekend at Dickinson's Long/Short Invitational, which is held in Newville at Big Spring High School.
