SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University baseball team dominated at the plate in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory over Mansfield at Fairchild Field, 11-5, on Thursday afternoon.

Shippensburg (25-22, 10-12 PSAC East) notched a season-high 19 base hits in the contest, as ten different Raiders recorded a hit. Six SU hitters posted multiple base hits.

Mansfield (13-30, 4-18) launched a grand slam to left field in the sixth to break the shutout and recorded five base hits.

Justin Byler opened the scoring in the first, lining a single to right field to score sophomore
Carter Hinds from second base. Junior
Austin Baal hit a sacrifice fly to left field to bring freshman
Mike Heckman across the plate. Sophomore
Bryce Herb extended the Raiders lead to 4-0 in the first with a two-RBI triple to left center field.

Baal picked up his second RBI of the day in the second frame, singling through the right side to score freshman
Tony Falvo from second.

Byler picked up his 36th RBI of the season in the fourth inning, hitting a sacrifice fly to deep center field and bringing Heckman the final 90 feet to home plate. Sophomore
Gio Calamia scored Baal on a single to left before being brought home by Herb's second triple of the day. Sophomore
Jaxon Dalena extended the Raiders lead to 9-0 with an RBI double in the fourth.

Baal gave SU a 10-0 lead in the fifth with an RBI-single to score Hinds from second base.

Mansfield's Zach Spray crushed a grand slam over the left field wall in the sixth to put the Mountaineers on the board.

Andrew Chronister singled to left field in the seventh to bring Byler across the dish for Shippensburg's 11th run of the day.

Graduate
Noah Nabholz earned his seventh win of the season after pitching 5.2 innings and allowing just three hits and striking out three.

Redshirt-sophomore
Ray Winter picked up his first career save after allowing just two hits and striking out three in 3.1 innings.

Baal went 4-for-4 from the plate, with four consecutive singles and three RBIs. Baal leads the Raiders in RBIs this season with 42 and is currently tied for sixth in the PSAC.

Herb went 3-for-5 at the dish, with three hits and three RBIs off the back of two triples. The sophomore is the first SU player to hit two triples in a game since Cash Gladfelter on March 10, 2018. Herb is just the eighth Raider in program history to record two triples in the same game and the first to do so against a PSAC opponent since Ryan Miscik on April 8, 2005 against Lock Haven.

Hinds extended his hitting streak to 12 games on a lead-off single in the bottom of the first.

With the victory the Raiders hit the 25-win mark for the 11th time under head coach
Matt Jones.

SU concludes the regular season on Friday with a road doubleheader against Mansfield at Joseph Shaute Field beginning at noon.
