PUEBLO, Col. – Sara McKean earned All-America Second Team honors in the long jump on Thursday night, placing ninth at the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Colorado State University Pueblo.

McKean landed a top mark of 19 feet, 11 inches (6.07 meters), which is just four centimeters (1½ inches) off her personal best that won her the 2023 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships.

That mark came on her second attempt and slotted her as the No. 8 seed entering the finals. She was not able to improve her standing over the course of her final three jumps and ended up in ninth place at the conclusion.

The competition was close, as fifth place through ninth place were separated by just six centimeters.

Thursday's performance is the first NCAA All-America honor for McKean, who made her NCAA Outdoor Championships debut. It was her second NCAA Championships performance overall after competing at indoor nationals this season in the long jump.

It culminates a fantastic 2023 season for McKean, who won the PSAC Indoor Championship in the long jump in addition to the outdoor championship and also ran on the PSAC record-setting 4x100-meter relay.

On Friday night, Leah Graybill will compete in the prelims of the 200 meters.
