SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's outdoor track & field team got its three-day weekend at the 2023 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships started Thursday with competition hosted by Slippery Rock University.
The majority of the action for the women's team occurred in the heptathlon, where
Nicola Puggé is currently pacing the field with a score of 2,740 points through four events. She set the tone at the start with a huge PR of 15.28 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and bookended her day with a personal best in the 200 meters of 26.98 seconds. Puggé also narrowly missed her PR in the shot put, landing a solid top mark of 38 feet, 6 ¾ inches (11.75 meters).
Macy Hines sits 11th and
Kyli Moon-Rumsey is 12th through the first four events. Hines posted a slight enhancement to her PR in the 100-meter hurdles, running 16.43 seconds, while Moon-Rumsey did the same (15.80 seconds). Moon-Rumsey's 200-meter time of 26.75 seconds is also a new personal best.
Three Raiders competed in finals on Thursday.
Ashley Adams competed in the hammer throw, and her top mark was 141 feet, 11 inches.
Belle Weikert placed 11th in the 10K, running 39:44.60, while
Amanda LaVana finished 13th after crossing the finish line in 40:01.41.
Friday's competition begins at 10:30 AM with the resumption of the heptathlon. Field events begin at noon, and track events begin at 1:05 PM.
