LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Shippensburg University baseball team dropped the opening game of its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) series with Lock Haven on Friday, 6-2, at Walkins Field.

Shippensburg (18-16, 6-7 PSAC East) received four scoreless innings of relief from freshman Brenden Anderson to end the game.

Lock Haven (11-14, 4-9) notched 13 hits, posting 11 in the first four innings.

The Raiders fell behind early in the first with the Bald Eagles posting four runs in the bottom of the first. Blaise Zeiders opened the scoring in the inning with a two-RBI single to left center with the bases loaded. Garrett Nepert brought the remaining baserunner home on a sacrifice-fly. Zeiders scored on a wild pitch for the final run of the inning.

Justin Lichtenwalner tacked on an extra run in the second with an RBI-single to second base while Zeiders drove in the teams sixth run on a single to right field in the fourth frame.

Shippensburg broke the LHU shutout in the sixth, with graduate Justin Byler scoring sophomore Gio Calamia on a shot to left field.

SU got another run closer in the eighth when Byler hit a standing triple to center field. In the subsequent at bat, he earned a free trip to home as Sean Brennan was called for a balk.

Graduate Noah Nabholz pitched the opening four frames, striking out four and allowing six runs. Nabholz now has a record of 4-4 on the season.

Anderson pitched four innings of relief, allowing just two hits and no runs.

Byler finished the contest as the only Raider with two hits. He now has 12 multi-hit games this season.
