SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University sophomore,
Leah Graybill was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by the league office after setting three school record this past weekend.
Graybill ran three times this weekend at the Colonial Relays this past weekend and broke a school record in all three performances, including a PSAC all-time record.
The most noteworthy performance came Friday in the 200 meters. Graybill broke the 21-year-old PSAC record in the 200 meters by running an NCAA provisional qualifier of 23.65 seconds – an enormous personal best of .78 seconds - that currently leads the PSAC and ranks third in the nation. It erases the previous benchmark of IUP's Amber Plowden (23.83 seconds) set in 2002.
It was Graybill's second run of the day. She began Friday by breaking her school record in the 100 meters with a time of 11.68 seconds – improving her personal best by .23 seconds. It was a fascinating race, as each of the top four finishers set school records for their respective program – Bucknell's Meghan Quinn (2nd, 11.69), Lock Haven's Riyana Owens (3rd, 11.87) and Mansfield's Skylar Brown (4th, 11.89). The performance ranks second in the PSAC to Cal's Divonne Franklin and ranks 13th in the country. She won both events Friday at the Colonial Relays.
On Saturday, Graybill ran the anchor leg of Shippensburg's 4x100-meter relay that completed a third-place finish of 46.63 seconds - a third NCAA provisional qualifier. The SU relay currently leads the PSAC and ranks in a tie for 22nd in the nation.
It is Graybill's second career PSAC weekly award, and the first time that a Raider has been named the PSAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week since Graybill on April 6, 2021.
