SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's outdoor track & field team competed on the home track at Seth Grove Stadium on a sunny Wednesday afternoon, winning eight events at the 2023 Midweek Invitational and achieving several noteworthy season bests.

Leading the way was Sara McKean, who became the third woman in school history to eclipse the 20-foot mark in the long jump. McKean joined Zarria Williams and school-record holder (and coach) Sarah Hunt Hewitt in the 20-foot club after winning the long jump Wednesday on a personal best of 20 feet, 0 ¼ inches. The performance moves her further up the national leaderboard, into 11th place as of the evening. McKean also ran a PR of 12.38 seconds in the 100-meter dash that moves her into the Top 10 of the conference rankings.

Sasha Lee took third in the long jump with a new PR of 18 feet, 10 ¾ inches that moves her into second in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) rankings for the event behind McKean. It capped an extremely busy yet tremendous day for Lee, who set a new personal best in the 100-meter hurdles with a victory in 14.53 seconds and took second in the triple jump on a leap of 37 feet, 11 ½ inches. Lee is now atop the conference rankings in the hurdles and remains atop the conference rankings in the triple jump.

The sprints/hurdles squad was busy, with Leah Graybill leading the way once again. She won the 100 meters and 200 meters with new meet records, posting respective times of 11.87 seconds and 24.10 seconds. Caroline Mastria won the 400 meters in 57.55 seconds, which moves her up to third on the league leaderboard. Melanie Barger achieved new collegiate bests in both hurdle events, winning the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.29 to move up to fourth in the conference and running 15.54 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles to situate ninth in the conference in that event.

Allyson Richwine won the high jump with a clearance of 5 feet, 2 ½ inches, while Kayla Dalhouse took second on a clearance of 5 feet, 1 ¼ inches that set a new personal best outdoors. Ellie Kuhn improved her season-best conference qualifier in the pole vault to 10 feet, 11 ¾ inches.

In throws, a couple of Raiders picked up new conference qualifiers. Makayla Decker led the discus throwers with a third-place effort of 131 feet, 3 inches that moves her up to fourth on the league leaderboard. Lauren Bellows took fifth on a conference qualifier of 123 feet, 9 inches.

Ashley Adams recorded SU's best hammer throw of the season with a new PR of 147 feet, 1 inch. Abby Reasoner paced the Raiders in the javelin on a second-place throw of 128 feet, 1 inch.

Shippensburg returns to action Saturday, April 29 when it hosts the Paul Kaiser Classic.
