Box Score The Shippensburg University tennis team opened its spring championship season Saturday with a non-conference match at Pitt-Greensburg, falling 8-1 to the hosts in action at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
 
Shippensburg won its lone point at No. 4 singles, where junior Brighid Cantwell battled to a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 victory over Cathryn Rossi. At No. 5 singles, Avery Wissinger debuted and won three singles games.
 
In doubles, sophomore Brooklynn Rupert and freshman Corrine Markovich won four games at No. 1 doubles.
 
Shippensburg opens Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division play at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Kutztown.
