Mason Boyd paced three Raider heptathletes Friday night at Bucknell University as the 2023-24 season began for the Shippensburg University men's indoor track & field team with the Bison Opener at Gerhard Fieldhouse.

Boyd currently leads the heptathlon through four events with 2,903 points, while Robert Lissner is fourth with 2,585 points and Noah Bankert is eighth with 2,322 points.

Among Boyd's exemplary efforts included the top high jump of the competition, as he cleared the bar at 6 feet, 4 ¾ inches for a huge PR – his previous best indoor clearance was 6 feet, 2 inches and his previous best outdoor clearance was 6 feet, 4 inches. He also landed a shot put of 37 feet, 1 ¼ inches – a new indoor best of more than four feet and a new overall best of nearly two feet.

Lissner ran a new indoor personal best in the 60-meter dash of 7.25 seconds and enhanced his indoor long jump best to 21 feet, 4 ¼ inches. He also cleared the high jump bar at 5 feet, 8 ½ inches – a new indoor PR.

Bankert, making his collegiate debut, cleared 5 feet, 9 ¾ inches in the high jump to tie for fourth in the competition. He completed the 60-meter dash in 7.37 seconds.

The full Shippensburg squad is in action tomorrow at Gerhard Fieldhouse.
