SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University redshirt-junior
Chisom Ifeanyi was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday morning by the league office.
Â
Ifeanyi collected a career-high three sacks to highlight the Raiders' outstanding defensive effort in a 13-7 victory over Millersville Saturday. It was the first three-sack game by a Raider since Tim Bradley had three at East Stroudsburg on Nov 9, 2019.
Â
He finished with 6 total tackles, including 5 solo, and a pass breakup. Ifeanyi's output Saturday nearly doubled his career sack total, which now stands at 6.5.
Â
Ifeanyi aided a defense that held the opposition to single digits for the second consecutive week and for the third time overall this season. SU allowed just 21 rushing yards Saturday, holding Marauder running back Jaheim Morris to just 11 yards on seven carries a week after he rushed for a career-best 229 yards.
Â
It is the first conference Athlete of the Week recognition for Ifeanyi.
Â
The Raiders picked up two of the three PSAC East Football Athlete of the Week honors Monday, as redshirt-sophomore punter
Tanner Luther also received the league's Special Teams Athlete of the Week award.
