SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's swimming team won three events Wednesday night as it hosted IUP in its 2023-24 home opener at Donald N. Miller Pool. The Crimson Hawks claimed the dual meet by a score of 135-69.
 
Senior Alyssa Tomb and freshman Jazz Barry posted individual victories, with Tomb claiming the 1,000-yard freestyle early in the meet with a time of 11:21.26 and Barry winning the seldom-contested 100-yard individual medley (IM) with a time of 1:03.28.
 
Tomb came back late in the meet to finish second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:32.06 that stood as the lone performance of the night for the Raiders that satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying standard.
 
Shippensburg concluded the meet in impressive fashion as Barry, junior Lauren Croll, freshman Michelle Kubiak and junior Allie Keeling posted a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:42.83. Keeling, whose specialty is distance freestyle, touched the wall with a 26.17-second anchor split to hold off IUP's Jordan Crupie and give the Raiders the win by three-tenths of a second.
 
Kubiak and freshman Carol Fabian each posted third-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle respectively. Freshman Mackenzie Beerman placed third in the 200-yard butterfly to pace the Raiders, while junior Gracie Wetzel ended up third in the 100-yard freestyle in 56.84 seconds.
 
Shippensburg returns to action in nine days when it hosts California (Pa.) and Fairmont State for a tri-meet at Donald N. Miller Pool.
