The Shippensburg University women's cross country team continued its season Friday afternoon with 6K competition at the 47th Annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.

Graduate Kyra Gerber paced the Raiders with an outstanding time of 22:05 that establishes her new 6K personal best in cross country. Gerber exhibited an excellent close over her final mile and a half to pass more than 40 runners down the stretch and cross the finish line in 42nd place.

Gerber, who was running at Paul Short for the fourth time in her career, posted a 17-second improvement from her previous best on the course that was set last season (22:27) in which she placed 53rd. It is seven seconds faster than her previous 6K best set at Lock Haven last year at the NCAA Atlantic Region Championships.

Junior Isabelle Gulgert once again served as the team's No. 2 runner behind Gerber, finishing 78th in a time of 22:33. Gulgert also had a solid close to her race in its final mile. The performance is a new best for Gulgert on the Paul Short course – serving as a six-second best in her third performance at Lehigh.

Freshman Livi Rieck cracked 23 minutes over 6K, crossing the finish line in 133rd place with a time of 22:59. Sophomore Belle Weikert ran 23:24, and redshirt-freshman Kelsey Hull rounded out the Raider scorers with a time of 23:33. It was the Paul Short Run debut for all three Raiders.

Freshman Katy Todd completed her run in 24:06, while senior Amanda LaVana, running at Paul Short for the third time in her Raider career, posted a new best on the course by 33 seconds with a 6K time of 24:25.

The prestigious Paul Short Run featured more than 130 colleges and universities and is annually broken down into three tiers of 6K races based on the registered teams, as the field includes a significant number of Division I schools.

SU competed in the "Brown" race, the middle of the three tiers, and finished in 23rd place in the team standings. Fellow Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) school Lock Haven finished in 18th place in the team standings.

Shippensburg returns to action next weekend at Mansfield, in a meet that will afford the Raiders a chance to run on the same course that will host the PSAC Championships and the NCAA Atlantic Region Championships in November.
