The Shippensburg University women's soccer team held on to an early lead to defeat Lock Haven on the road Wednesday night, 2-1, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match at Hubert Jack Stadium.
Shippensburg (2-3-2, 2-2-2 PSAC East) led the way in the first half with a goal from senior
Skylar Lambert just two minutes into the game.
Graduate
Alexis Worley handled a loose ball outside the box and hit the top right corner of the net for a goal, advancing the Raider lead with under 10 minutes to play in the first half.
The Raiders' only two shots on goal were enough for a 2-0 advantage heading into the second half.
Lock Haven (3-4-1, 1-4-1) looked to make a comeback at the 58:22 mark with a goal from Avery Landrum, cutting the lead.
Although the Bald Eagles outshot the Raiders 9-3, with six shots on goal, the two shots on goal the entire game for the Raiders were enough to secure the road win.
Junior goalkeeper
Kendra Barlow tallied five saves in her second start in goal this season.
The Raiders are back on the road this Saturday at 8 p.m. at Bloomsburg for another PSAC East matchup.
