8/25/2022 2:00:00 PM

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- Shippensburg University softball head coach Alison Van Scyoc has confirmed the recruitment of six new players for the 2023 season.

Of the newcomers to the Raider program, five are freshmen and one is a transfer.

"I am excited to welcome the 2022-23 softball class," Van Scyoc said. "We are bringing in tremendous young women who have a passion for softball and a passion to achieve academically. They are a talented group that are coming to Shippensburg playing on highly competitive travel teams that have helped prepare them for this transition."

The recruits will join 16 returning players from a 2022 Raider team that reached the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament and hosted the NCAA Atlantic Regionals.

"We had some specific positional needs, and this class gives us depth in the pitching circle, infield, and outfield," Van Scyoc said. "I am ready to kick off the fall semester shortly, so that we can begin developing skills, building team chemistry, and working towards a successful season."
