Ashley Grimm named to the Hazleton Area Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2022

Grimm becomes the first SU to be inducted into the Hazleton Area Sports Hall of Fame

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University Associate Director of Athletics Ashley Grimm has been named to the Hazleton Area Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2022 and will be inducted on Sunday Sept. 18.
 
Grimm was a 2004 graduate of Hazleton Area High School. As a multi-sport athlete, Grimm not only excelled in basketball but also in tennis and softball. 
 
In basketball, she was one of five freshmen on the 'Fab Five' team and led the Cougars to multiple championship over the course of four years. She was a repeat Wyoming Valley Conference (WVC) Division I Most Valuable Player honors in both her junior and senior years as well as the 2003-04 Standard Speaker All-Area Girls' Basketball Player of the Year. She helped lead the team on the way to a 27-2 season with a record 26-game winning streak.
 
On the tennis court, Grimm started in both Singles and doubles. She went on to finish a perfect 12-0 in singles matches during her senior year as well as going undefeated in doubles play during the regular season. The team went 10-2 her senior year ,which was a school-best at the time of competition. She went on to be named a 2003 WVC first team selection and WYLN Academic Athlete.
 
Grimm emerged as starting catcher for a Cougar softball team that would be the WVC Division I champion in both her junior and senior years, District 2 Class AAA Champions in her junior year and District 2-4 Class AAA Subregional champions in both her junior and senior years.
 
Grimm becomes the first SU to be inducted into the Hazleton Area Sports Hall of Fame.
