The Shippensburg University softball team began a week of games in Florida with a loss to Sioux Falls on Sunday, as the Cougars claimed an 8-0 victory in six innings over the Raiders.

Shippensburg (2-3) got six singles in the game, including two off the bat of junior
Hannah Marsteller.

Sioux Falls (10-5) hit three home runs, including a grand slam in the sixth inning by Kait Van Der Zwaag that doubled the Cougar lead.

Maelynn Leber worked in the circle for the Raiders. Ball threw two innings plus two batters in the third; she allowed a hit and walked three and struck out four. Flattery threw 3.2 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits. Leber came in to get the last out of the sixth.

SU's second scheduled game of the day against Minnesota State was canceled due to a lack of available officials.

Shippensburg is scheduled to face Southern New Hampshire and Clarion tomorrow in Florida.
