Tyshawn White was selected to the 2021-22 All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Wrestling First Team at 125 pounds on Wednesday afternoon.
Â
Voting is conducted by the league's head coaches.
Â
White is the first Raider to earn an All-PSAC classification since the conference switched to coaches voting for the league's awards in 2019-20. This switch coincided with the PSAC Championship meet being discontinued and the league's Division I schools joining the Mid-American Conference (MAC).
Â
Previously, the All-PSAC finishers for each weight class were assigned by those who finished in the Top 3 at the PSAC Championships and the coaches voted solely on the league's major awards.
Â
White is the first Raider to earn an All-PSAC classification since Evan Ramos finished third at 197 pounds at the 2017 PSAC Championships. Â
Â
It is White's second career All-PSAC First Team classification; he achieved his first at Clarion when he won the 2018 PSAC Championship at 125 pounds for the Golden Eagles.Â
Â
White posted an 11-2 record in his debut season with the Raiders after joining the team in January. He earned All-America honors with a third-place finish at 125 pounds at the 2022 NCAA Division II National Championships after placing second at the NCAA Super Region 1 Championships.
Â
His third-place finish at the NCAA Championships made him the first Raider to earn All-America honors at 125 pounds since Chris Kochinsky placed fourth in 2011 and the highest-placing Raider All-American at 125 pounds since Jamie Thomas was the 2006 runner-up.Â
Â
White's qualification for the national championships extended Shippensburg's streak to 19 consecutive seasons with a Division II National Championships qualifier. He is the fifth Raider All-American under head coach
Seth Bloomquist.
Â
The 2021-22 PSAC major award winners are Kutztown's Andrew Dunn Jr. (PSAC Athlete of the Year), Mercyhurst's Dillon Walker (Rookie of the Year) and Pitt-Johnstown's Pat Pecora (PSAC Coach of the Year).
