RECAP: Lacrosse drops divisional opener at No. 5 West Chester

Three Raider goalkeepers combined for seven saves

The Shippensburg University lacrosse team lost its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opener at No. 5 West Chester on Wednesday, 17-5, at Vonnie Gros Field.
 
Shippensburg (2-3, 0-1 PSAC East) trailed 12-1 at the half but out-scored West Chester (3-0, 1-0) by a 3-1 margin in the third quarter.
 
Freshman Sara Vosburg scored twice for the Raiders, including once on a free position. Senior Gabby Savarino and sophomore Bailey Krahl each scored a goal, and senior Jena MacDonald had an assist.
 
Senior Clairanne Chairs had a team-high five groundballs. Senior Kasey Schuchardt had four of SU's eight draw controls, Vosburg had three.
 
Freshman Kayla Vosburg, junior Ally Weneta and senior KiKi Brasher each saw time in the cage for the Raiders. The three goalkeepers combined for seven saves.
 
West Chester got four goals and an assist from Helen Kreschollek, two goals and four assists from Lindsay Monigle, and hat tricks from three other players in the victory.
 
Shippensburg will travel Saturday to Shepherd for a 1 p.m. divisional matchup with the Rams.
