SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's basketball team posted a 77-64 victory over Lock Haven on Monday night in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) First Round matchup at Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (20-8) went on a 16-0 run that spanned from the 3:45 mark in the first half to the 18:01 mark in the second half. The score was tied 25-25 at the start of the decisive stretch. The Raiders led by as many as 23 points at the 5:48 mark. SU posted a 21-13 margin in points off turnovers.
Graduate
Jake Biss shot 8-of-12 from the field and 4-of-7 from three-point range for 20 points, three rebounds and three assists.
Redshirt-junior
Rashon Johnson shot 8-for-14 from the field for 18 points, seven rebounds, one assist and a steal.
Redshirt-junior
Dom Sleva shot 4-of-8 from the field for nine points, grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, recorded a career-high five assists and had one block. Sleva led the team in assists and rebounds in the same game for the first time this season.
Junior
Carlos Carter put up 11 points, tied a career high with four steals, and grabbed two rebounds and two assists.
Freshman
Michael Dunn tied his career high of 10 points while shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from the floor, including 2-for-2 from three-point range and 2-for-2 from the free throw line.
Senior
Kiyon Hardy shot 3-of-6 from the floor for nine points while contributing four assists, three rebounds and two steals.
The victory marked Head Coach
Chris Fite's sixth straight season with 20 or more wins. In 62 years of basketball prior to its current streak, Shippensburg had just two 20-win seasons in history.
Since the start of the 2015-16 season, the Raiders have posted a 139-43 record under Fite.
Lock Haven (11-16) had guard Eli Washington drop 23 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals. DaQuan Granberry put up 16 points, two steals and a block.
Shippensburg will face East Stroudsburg at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the quarterfinal matchup of the PSAC Tournament at Koehler Field House.
