The Shippensburg University men's indoor track & field team won six events on Saturday in competition spanning Alvernia (the Plex Shootout) and East Stroudsburg (Deschriver Invitational).
 
Most of the Raiders competed at Alvernia, with the throwers making the venture to the Poconos. The latter group was highlighted by Pat Maloney, who set a new personal record in the weight throw for the third consecutive meet and this time, achieving an NCAA provisional qualifier in the process. Maloney's top throw of 58 feet, 11 ½ inches (17.97 meters) keeps him atop the PSAC rankings. He has improved his PR by more than four feet so far this season.  
 
Josh Herbster also set a new personal best in the weight throw, placing fourth with a top throw of 52 feet, 7 ½ inches.  
 
At Alvernia, Nate Reed set a new indoor personal best in the long jump, winning the competition with a seven-meter leap (22 feet, 11 ¾ inches). It's the third seven-meter jump in the conference this season; teammate Mason Boyd still leads the league. Shamar Jenkins won the triple jump with a top mark of 44 feet, 10 ¼ inches.
 
Chayce Macknair won twice – claiming the mile in 4:17.59 and the 800 meters in 2:00.19. Both times satisfied the conference qualifying standard, and Macknair moved atop the PSAC leaderboard in the mile with his time.
 
Hayden Hunt achieved conference qualifiers in the mile with a time of 4:29.40 and the 3K with a time of 9:03.07. Nate Kaplon won the 5K with a time of 15:58.67.
 
Travis Bigham, Robbie Hrabosky II, Robert Lissner and Matt Lenahan teamed up to win the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:30.10. Lenahan's 51-second split helped fend off the Huskies for the victory in the event.
 
Shippensburg heads to VMI next weekend for a pivotal meet in advance of the upcoming conference championships.
