The Shippensburg University men's indoor track & field team will travel to Edinboro this weekend in pursuit of extending its streak of league titles. The Raiders will compete Saturday and Sunday at the 2022 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships held inside the Mike S. Zafirovski Sports and Recreation Dome.
Meet information, including the projected schedule, the conference's spectator policy, live coverage links and more, is available at the championships home page linked to the right.
Shippensburg is scheduled to have at least 28 individuals in competition this weekend. SU has six top seeds on the track and two in the field and a total of 33 projected individual scoring performances. The Raiders are the projected favorite due to this perceived depth, but the team is looking to prove its mettle through its performances and not through paper.
Significant experience is on Shippensburg's side, as the team enters the meet with 24 previous individual scoring performances. Included in that total are multiple previous champions:
Drew Dailey is the defending champion in the mile and 800,
Shamar Jenkins is the two-time defending triple jump champion and the 2019 long jump champion, and
Alec Rideout won the 2017 shot put championship with a meet record.
The Raiders have the potential to become the third team in PSAC history to score at least one point in every event. The feat was previously achieved by SU in 2014 and 2016. The 2012 Raiders set the conference's meet scoring record with 213.5 points in 18 events. This year's championships feature 17 events (the 4x800-meter relay is no longer contested).
Shippensburg has won 13 of the 19 PSAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships, including 10 consecutive league titles dating back through 2011.
The excellent Leone Timing crew will be providing live results all weekend long, with the link available at the championships home page linked above. Edinboro and the PSAC will be joining forces to pursue a live video stream that will be available on the PSAC Digital Network.
