Eric Kirk was named the inaugural Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office after a solid debut weekend at Bucknell's Bison Opener.
Kirk got his season started off on a positive note with a pair of impressive individual runs. He most notably won the 60 meters in 6.82 seconds, a new personal best and NCAA provisional qualifier that is .07 seconds off
Stephon Brown's school record set at last year's Bison Opener that resulted in a trip to the NCAA National Championships. That time ranks atop the conference and is currently sixth on the national leaderboard.
Kirk also won the 200 meters, crossing the finish line in 22.40 seconds for a time that resulted in a PSAC Championships automatic qualifier. That time also leads the conference and is 11th on the national leaderboard.
Capping off a third win on the day, Kirk ran the opening leg of the victorious 4x400-meter relay team – partnering up with
Robbie Hrabosky II,
Travis Bigham and
Quinton Townsend to run 3:26.20.
It is Kirk's third career weekly indoor award, as he was honored last season on Jan. 25 and Feb. 22.
