SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Scott Brisson has been hired as a full-time assistant coach for the Shippensburg University football team. Brisson will serve as the team's offensive coordinator and will coach the team's quarterbacks.
Â
"I am extremely happy to have Scott join our football family at Shippensburg University." head coach
Mark Maciejewski said. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our staff and to our program. Scott is an outstanding teacher of the game and his passion for success is contagious. He understands the importance of building relationships with the players on and off the field. He is not only a great addition to our football family but also to the entire Shippensburg University and the Shippensburg community."
Â
Brisson arrives in the Cumberland Valley after eight years in the Lehigh Valley, where he served as the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach for Division 1 FCS institution Lehigh University.
Â
At Lehigh, Brisson took part in the famous Lehigh-Lafayette football rivalry, the longest uninterrupted and most-played rivalry game in college football. He joined the Lehigh coaching staff as wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator in 2014, before being promoted to the role of offensive coordinator in 2017.
Â
Under Brisson's stewardship, the Mountain Hawks averaged nearly 24 points per game over their final five games during the 2021 season and ended the campaign with three consecutive victories.
 Â
In 2019, Lehigh led the Patriot League in passing, averaging 233.4 yards per contest. A strong receiving corps, which featured two All-Patriot League performers, led the way as injuries forced the squad to dip into their quarterback depth.
 Â
In 2018, Brisson oversaw an offense that again paced the Patriot League in passing yards per contest. The squad included a signal-caller that finished his career with the third most passing yards and passing touchdowns in program history, a First Team All-Patriot League wide receiver that led the circuit in receiving yards per game, as well as Lehigh's all-time leading rusher and scorer.
Â
In his first campaign as Lehigh's offensive coordinator, Brisson guided one of the top offenses in the FCS. The Mountain Hawks ranked sixth in the division in total offense (474.8 ypg), seventh in passing offense (325.9 ypg) and eighth in scoring offense (35.8 ppg).
Â
That season, the Mountain Hawks' quarterback finished among the top five in the FCS with 3,886 yards passing and 31 touchdowns. Two Lehigh players were named finalists for the Walter Payton Award, while one received Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year recognition.
Â
Brisson previously spent the 2008 and 2009 seasons on the Mountain Hawks' staff and returned following stints at St. Lawrence University and Lycoming College.
Â
At St. Lawrence, Brisson served as offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator. In 2010, he was instrumental in shepherding the program to its first conference championship in school history. In 2013, he helped guide Lycoming to a Middle Atlantic Conference title.
Â
Prior to his first stint at Lehigh, Brisson spent two seasons as the wide receivers coach at Franklin & Marshall. He also had the role of coordinator of the punt return unit.
Â
Brisson graduated from Bowdoin College in 2006 with degrees in Government and Sociology. He was a four-year letterman at wide receiver, and helped Bowdoin garner its most wins in 36 seasons during his senior year.
Â
Brisson has a wife, Catherine, and a 1-year-son named Mac.
