Dom Sleva was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Men's Basketball Defensive Athlete of the Week Monday afternoon by the league office.
Sleva's presence in the paint helped propelled the Raiders to a close 71-68 road win over Wilmington (De.) Nov. 16. He grabbed 10 defensive boards, and got his fingertips to a Wilmington pass that led to a key Shippensburg steal inside the final minute that helped seal the victory.
Sleva finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds and two steals, recording his second double-double in three games to start the 2022-23 season.
The award marked the Raiders' first Defensive Athlete of the Week honor in over two years. Lamar Talley was the last Raider to receive the recognition back in Feb. 2020.
It also marks Sleva first career weekly award from the league.
