Matt Feeney named PSAC Eastern Division Defensive Athlete of the Week

Feeney was responsible for two turnovers in the Raiders OT victory

FeenShippensburg University redshirt-sophomore linebacker Matt Feeney was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Football Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second time this season Monday following his pivotal performance in the Raiders thrilling road victory over Gannon.
 
Feeney collected six tackles and was responsible for two Gannon turnovers in the Raiders' 35-28 victory in overtime. He recorded a first-half interception, as well as a key fourth quarter fumble recovery on a Gannon punt return that led to a Raider touchdown.
 
Feeney was previously recognized by the conference following the Raiders' Week 4 win at Bloomsburg. In that game, Feeney set a new Shippensburg University single-game record with 6.5 tackles for loss.
 
Feeney finished his sophomore season with a team-best 99 tackles, including 19 tackles for loss – tied for the most in the PSAC this season.
 
Overall, SU had seven players receive weekly awards from the conference this season. Evan Falco was also named PSAC Offensive Athlete of Week for Week 11. Redd Douglas earned back-to-back Special Teams Athlete of the Week honors on Sept. 5 and Sept. 12, Ray Jones was Special Teams Athlete of the Week on Nov. 7, Tyler Simon was tabbed Defensive Athlete of the Week on Oct. 10.
