SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The No.1 Shippensburg University field hockey team took down Bloomsburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at Robb Sports Complex on a sunny Saturday afternoon, 4-1.

Shippensburg (12-1, 5-1 PSAC) got goals from freshman Agus Garibaldi, freshman Lilly Cantabene, sophomore Yasmin De Meyer and sophomore Emilia Conners. The Raiders had a 22-4 shots on goal advantage and a 16-6 penalty corner advantage.

Garibaldi scored in the opening seven minutes of the first quarter with her own rebound. However, Bloomsburg (8-7, 3-4) tied the game within five minutes of the first goal off a penalty corner deflection on the right corner. The Raiders unwilling to finish the first quarter in a tie, scored the game-winning goal off a penalty corner in the last second, on a shot from Cantabene from the top of the circle off an assist by sophomore Jocelyn Branco.

In the third quarter, the Raiders continued the offensive and had six penalty corners and nine shots. The third goal came off a penalty corner, as a pass by senior Merel Hoekstra went to De Meyer who found the bottom right of the cage.

With less than five minutes left in the game, Conners intercepted a Husky defender pass and drove all the way from the 25-yard line and hit a rocket to the bottom left of the cage to extend the lead to 4-1.

Shippensburg will head to Millersville on Wednesday for a PSAC matchup at 6 p.m.
