The Shippensburg University men's swimming team was victorious Friday night in a dual meet at Fairmont State, winning six events to defeat the host Fighting Falcons by a score of 114-87.
 
Several Raiders had a solid night, with sophomore David Johnson opening the individual events with a sterling time of 10:16.45 in the 1,000-yard freestyle that was one of three performances on the night that satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying standard. Johnson also won the 100-yard butterfly, swimming 54.65 seconds.
 
Both relays bookended the meet with victories. The 200-yard medley quartet of senior Michael Hannig, sophomore Nathan VanNatter, graduate Vin Salvatore and senior Elijah Zinn opened with a victory in 1:40.06, while Zinn, sophomore Zaidian Van Orden, Johnson and graduate Andrew Hale concluded with a 200-yard freestyle relay victory in 1:30.05.
 
Salvatore posted the fastest time in the 200-yard individual medley (IM), swimming 2:05.52, while redshirt-junior JC Greenwood had the fastest time in the 500-yard freestyle by swimming 5:13.46.
 
The Raiders had some solid swims in sprint freestyle, as Van Orden was just out-touched in the 50-yard freestyle but delivered a PSAC cut of 22.53 seconds, while VanNatter finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a PSAC cut of 49.51 seconds.
 
Shippensburg returns to action Friday, Nov. 4 for its lone remaining home dual meet – a Senior Night clash with Clarion at Donald N. Miller Pool.
