SHIPPENSBURG, P.a. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team held an early lead to edge Shepherd, 1-0, Wednesday evening in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup at David See Field.
 
Shippensburg (4-5-4, 4-4-4 PSAC East) came out attacking the Rams defense early. After intercepting a pass at midfield, graduate Alexis Worley split two defenders and found senior Alyse Caffrey on the far-left side that led to her first goal of the season. 
 
Shepherd (4-6-4,3-6-3) had a strong offensive front heading into the second half, but sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Molyneaux came up with terrific saves for the Raiders, totaling eight in the contest. 
 
The match was pretty even statistically; Shepherd had eight shots on goal to the Raiders seven, and corner kicks were equal at five.
 
Shippensburg will return to David See Field next Monday 3 p.m. vs Saint Thomas Aquinas in a non-conference match.
