Graduate Andrew Hale and junior Michael Salvatori each won a pair of individual events on Wednesday night, but the Shippensburg University men's swimming team dropped a close dual meet at host IUP.
 
Hale was victorious in two breaststroke events, taking gold in the 50-yard event in 27.86 seconds and the 200-yard event in a time of 2:15.12 that was one of five performances on the night to satisfy the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) standard.
 
Salvatori won the 200-yard backstroke in a solid time of 1:58.96 and came back to win the 200-yard individual medley (IM) in 2:03.08. Hale was the runner-up to Salvatori in the 200-yard IM, swimming 2:05.52, while senior David Bussard notched a PSAC cut in the 200-yard backstroke by swimming 2:02.29.
 
Sophomore Nathan VanNatter achieved a conference cut in the 100-yard freestyle, delivering a second-place time of 49.65 seconds. Bussard was the runner-up in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:47.97, while sophomore David Johnson took silver in the 200-yard butterfly and the 500-yard freestyle.
 
Both relays bookended the meet with second-place finishes. The quartet of senior Michael Hannig, Hale, graduate Vin Salvatore and VanNatter completed the 200-yard medley relay in 1:39.94, while sophomore Zaidian Van Orden, VanNatter, Johnson and senior Elijah Zinn finished the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:19.13.
 
The Crimson Hawks defeated the Raiders by 22 points, 144.5-122.5, when removing diving from the scored events.
 
Shippensburg returns to action Friday, Oct. 21 at Fairmont State.
