RECAP: Lacrosse drops season finale at No. 9 East Stroudsburg

SU falls 18-2 to the nationally-ranked Warriors

The Shippensburg University lacrosse team came up short in its 2021 season finale on Wednesday, falling to No. 9 East Stroudsburg by an 18-2 score in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup at Whitenight Field.
 
Shippensburg (5-8, 5-7 PSAC East) was within three goals of East Stroudsburg (9-2, 8-2), with 7:54 left in the first half, trailing 5-2 after a goal by Alana Cardaci. The Warriors called a timeout after Cardaci's goal and kept the Raiders off the scoreboard the rest of the way. ESU responded with a 4-0 run to take a 9-2 lead into halftime and added nine more tallies in the second half.
 
Cardaci and freshman Addie Kalama were the goal scorers for the Raiders, with Hannah Seifried assisting Kalama's tally.
 
Seifried and Gabby Savarino each recorded four draw controls; SU finished within two total draw controls (12-10) of ESU.
 
Carly Switala was credited with a career-high three caused turnovers and four groundballs. Jessica DeMarte and McKenna Keller each collected multiple groundballs.
 
In goal, Ally Weneta got the start and made six saves in 44 minutes, while KiKi Brasher entered in relief and recorded four saves in 16 minutes. Weneta was credited with five groundballs.  
 
East Stroudsburg got an eight-point effort (five goals, three assists) from Hana Cicerelle. Four Warriors finished with hat tricks, including four goals by Gianna LeDuc.
 
Shippensburg concludes its 2021 season with five conference victories – its most since the 2014 season.
