SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University softball team shook off a tough first inning in a Game 1 loss Friday to win Game 2 of its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division doubleheader with rival Millersville. The Marauders won Game 1, 6-1, and the Raiders won Game 2, 11-2 in five innings, on a cold and windy day at Robb Field.
Shippensburg (10-10, 9-9 PSAC East) fell behind 5-0 in the first inning of the opener as Millersville (9-7, 5-7) hit four home runs (three solo, one two-run shot) to establish an insurmountable lead. The Raiders yielded just 10 hits over the final 11 innings while producing 17 of their own.

Toni Jones had a team-high four hits, including a bases-loaded, two-run single in the Game 2 win. Freshman
Taylor Myers had three hits and a walk atop the Raider order, while
Taylor Radziewicz also had three hits and produced a sacrifice fly.
Hannah Marsteller, whose school-record hitting streak of 23 games came to an end after Game 1, launched a three-run homer in Game 2 and finished the nightcap with four RBIs.
Freshman
Maelynn Leber got a complete-game victory in Game 2, striking out seven without a walk in five innings of work.
Game 1: Millersville 6, Shippensburg 1
Round trippers by Devan Masciulli, Rebecca Blatt, Faith Willenbrock and Alyssa Stover put the visitors ahead and chased a pair of Raider pitchers. Freshman
Emma Flattery got SU out of the first inning and was productive in relief, striking out nine batters over five innings of work. Flattery allowed a run on four hits and walked four.
Freshman
Cori Ritter hit an RBI-triple in the fourth to account for the lone Raider run. Ritter plated
Courtney Coy, who doubled. Jones also doubled in the game.
Game 2: Shippensburg 11, Millersville 2 (5 innings)
SU took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first after Radziewicz ripped a shot off the glove of the MU third baseman that plated Myers.
A six-run third inning proved the difference.
Lacey Hunter singled and stole second, and Myers walked.
Morgan DeFeo dropped down a second straight sacrifice and reached on a throwing error that allowed Hunter to score. Radziewicz then hit a sacrifice fly to right field but reached after the ball was dropped by the right fielder.
One pitch later, Marsteller launched a three-run homer down the left-field line. Jones singled with one out and came around to score on a two-out double by Leber.
Millersville got a two-run homer in the fourth from Gabi Turner, but the Raiders answered with four more runs that eventually invoked the run rule. A leadoff single by Myers, a walk by DeFeo and a bunt single by Radziewicz loaded the bases with no outs. Marsteller had a check swing that ended up a single to plate one run, and Coy then singled home another run. Jones delivered a two-run single as well.
Leber struck out the side in the second and the fifth. She has allowed two runs or less in each of her last three starts.
